went to school today. xD was kinda late in the morning. But meeting atikah and shi hui on the train made up for it. HAHA. Atikah went back to school for some S lessons eh? LOL.
Shi Hui was going early to SP to finish her project. Something liddat. She was telling me she slept at 5am last night. OMIGOSH ! ya cos she had to finish her product. Then this morning had to go school early complete.

Oh. Shi Hui really really reminds me of Atikah la. Blur and everything. Nice to talk too as well. Tho I know her for only a short period of time, had quite alot to talk abt ^^ Should ask her go out with Winnie and Atikah. Its they two wanna go out xDD

Well, tmr vesak day. going out.

Well, Earth to you people ( you know I love you.. but I still gotta say this.. LOL) you have your bloody block test once your hols are over. HAH ! TAKE THAT !~

Heard of the quote every dog has its day ? Well, MY day will come.. actually, my month will come. In september, when you guys are worrying about your promos, pulling your hair and all, I would have completed my modules and be having one month of relaxation not having to think of studies. (Unlike some people in JUNE) HAHA.

Well, No harm done. I still love you guys. Its just.. how can I take all your gloating without retaliating eh ? LOL. I'll try jio you guys out whenever I can. You guys can come find my too ya ? (Whenever you guys are not studying )

Anyway, just a glimpse on how competitive my class is. I got 38/40 and got somewhere like 8th or 9th in class for microbio. Imagine Engineering Math (smth like A Math, in fact 80% similiar) with all those muggers and super high IQ people in my class, I'd probably get last in class if I get 99/100 la. There are just way too many smart people arnd me.

its just that I got nth much to say. oh wait ! there is.

I helped my fren with a graded essay( or smth like that) and as much as I sounded professional (or so I thought) I was quite happy with my answer. I always liked this kinda thing about Singapore.

It was about someone who said he thinks Singaporeans are often associated with things like Singlish, Kiasuism, lack of awareness (or not bothered) about political issues and also lack of basic courtesy. (I guess this is more of what he thinks la) Then we were asked if we agree.

I only had to help my fren with the singlish part. But lemme give my views here. SORRY IF I OFFEND ANYONE. but this is totally harmless. its just a rough gauge on how I would answer this question in a rather informal way of cos. (I DO NOT WANT TO APPEAR IN THE NEWSPAPER AS THE NEXT BLOGGER BEING SUED. LOL)

Anyway the question asked whether you agree.

So, My first instinct was damn he's right. (It's just cos I like the topic okay. nothing against SG)
Anyway, thats besides the point.

So let me officially begin. I agree with that guy to a certain extent. Its true that Singaporeans do speak hell alot of Singlish ( I'm no different. ) and we gotta admit, damn are we kiasu. During the great singapore sales we fight for the clothes like our lives depended on it. (This is definitely not me) Tho I will shop during that period. Anyways..

On the other hand I do not agree totally with the "accusation" that Singaporeans are not bothered by political affairs and Singaporeans not having basic courtesy.

Let me start of by sayin why I agree about Singaporeans speaking too much Singlish and Singaporeans being kiasu.

Singlish. Its something that we all "accept" as part and parcel of our daily lives. I know to many of us it is a habit to speak singlish. Its not a good habit.

Picture this.
Caucasian guys "g'day mate. how're you doing"
singaporean "okay la. you lehs ?
The next thing you know, you'll probably have a pair of confused eyes staring right at you.

The fact remains that the SG government time and again reminds us to speak proper english, and time and again we give excuses like its habit and what so ever. I admit that I'm guilty of this too. There's also this thing about how Singlish distinguishes Singaporeans. Yeah right. All it does is show that our English suck. (sorry abit over passionate there) but its true. Don't get me wrong. Maybe Singlish does distinguish us to a certain extent. I mean, I do not condone controlled use of singlish.

I admit its fun to use singlish to joke around with frens and everything. Using the hokkien mixed with english etc. The walaos, kao, la and lor and you know the usual.

But have we ever looked at it this way? That Singlish is actually like our shield. What do I mean ? Seriously, think about it. The saying that Singlish distinguishes Singaporeans may come about as a joke to many of us. But its a joke that has been incorperated into our society. Its become more like a shield.
In a more extreme case, it can actually be seen as an act of cowardice. That Singaporeans know or rather, think, that they can't beat the caucasians in this area. So we use Singlish as a shield, saying it distinguish us etc. Its all just sad attempt to mask the fact that maybe Singaporeans are afraid of competition and are not daring enough to step out of their comfort zone.

The government wants us to speak proper english so that we can communicate and compete on more even grounds with the caucasians. I mean germans, french, english, they are all learning chinese so how much more should we Singaporeans cultivate this habit of speaking good english?

Second point. Kiasuism. I totally agree with this point. Singaporeans want only the best and in this world where second means nothing, why not? So let's just all blame it on the world!!! I mean it is the easiest excuse.

BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT.. Have we really seen the world? Or do we just see a part of it? I heard from many working adults that they have been victims to the secular world. So much so that they lose contact with themselves, for instance their religion which once gave them a definite direction. Now they feel like they are wandering aimlessly.

To tell you the truth, as much as I like Singapore, I'd much rather be in some countryside in Australia or New Zealand. Where nobody discriminates you for what you do, they accept you for who you are. I mean a road sweeper or just any cleaner is considered a proper career in Australia. In Singapore, I get pessimistic and uncalled for comments by some of my relatives and elders when they heard I can go JC but chose poly instead. I understand that Singapore being small and all have no choice but to be caught up right up there with the best.

I’m not saying Singapore should be content with where we are now. We just need to keep on improving. Of course, we’ll need to and want to be best in certain areas, but not ALL areas. I mean however good we may be, there will be the day where someone will upsurge us. Everyone thought Newton was good. But Einstein came up with a better theory. Chelsea won the EPL twice in a row. Look who won it now. Barcelona were kings of Europe, where are they now?


My point is, adults and children alike are facing too much stress because every company wants to be the best. But as much as we care for the companies, how much more important are our friends, our family, our health? I know of some parents sending their primary 1 kids to tuition? I mean wth. I only went for tuition at the end of sec3 and that’s cos I wanted to improve my straight F9’s for chem, Physics and A Math which I’m proud to say all improved by at least 6 to 7 grades in O levels. xD

These little things, or rather, the lack of them bring about kiasuism in Singaporeans.

If you are lost some where in between my wild thoughts, let me bring you back on how this is related to kiasuism. Simply because we live in a competitive society, this competitiveness rubs of us and it shows in our daily lives. Which explains why MOST, but not all Singaporeans are kiasu.

The only way to be satisfied and stop being kiasu is to be content with what you have and just challenge yourself to improve further. If we can be the best, great, it’s a bonus. But in the pursuit of all these “greater glories” We have to treasure the finer things in life. Being kiasu is one thing. Being over kiasu to the extent of neglecting and/or hurting others is another.

I mean does a sit in the MRT mean so much to you that quite alotof people rushes for one? Does getting into a bus mean so much to you that you push the person in front of you? That moment of kiasuism or selfishness as I like to call it may cause harm someone else. I was once pushed in the MRT by this auntie. The train was really full, but she barged her way in. I nearly dropped my laptop. Imagine if it had been a mother carrying her child there instead of me and my laptop. I doubt the mum would react as quickly as me. Will a “oh sorry” pay back the injured baby ?

Of cos a lot of Singaporeans out there are nice people and do give up their seats in the MRT or bus. But at the same time, we have Singaporeans who care only for their wants.

So I believe Singaporeans should try to speak proper English and learn to be content with their lives.

Now to re-butt the “accusations” of Singaporeans being not bothered with politics. I guess this person must not have read the newspapers or been in Singapore the past couple of years. Because especially during the last election, rally speeches especially of that from the worker’s party drew many people. Tell me how would a bunch of people who lack interest in political affairs stand the stuffy environment while listening to the rallies ? I can barely stand my classroom in secondary school!



Moreover, if I’m not wrong, Singapore is enjoying politically stability now don’t you agree? If that’s the case, how much do you expect Singaporeans to know about political affairs? Its not like two parties are in major conflict and everyone is oh so ignorant about it. If we say Singaporeans are bothered with political affairs only if we know every detail, Gosh, I guess the person making this statement is the only politically aware one around here eh? Bar the government of course.

Moreover, newspapers are easily available everywhere and at a cheap price too. TODAY newspapers are given out to people (which many read) so Singaporeans keep themselves up to date with the latest happenings. How can it be that they are not interested with political issues? If Singaporeans have no interest in political issues, why would there be this program where young adults and teens talk to Lee Kuan Yew? If Singaporeans weren’t interested in politics why is there a high number of people voting?

Of course then this person that made this comment may well say that its only during the election period. Then I’ll like to ask if (whoever agrues this point) is really that aware about day to day political happenings? I guess not. Also if they are only interested in politics during the election period, why is the TODAY newspaper always given out quickly? Simple because Singaporeans want to keep themselves updated with the lates happenings, political or not.

Lastly, basic courtesy, It’s true that Singapore have their fair share of selfish people that only care bout themselves.(which country doesn’t?) However, more often than not, I see people giving up sits on MRT and other public transport. Yes, Singaporeans are kiasu, always wanting the best and pushing themselves and others around them to the limit. But, not ALL Singaporeans are kiasu to the extent of not giving up their seats to those who need it more than them.

You may say I’m contradicting, first by first Singaporeans are kiasu, and always snatching seats on public transports and now I’m here praising Singaporeans for giving up seats. Hear me out. Singaporeans ARE kiasu. But for most, it’s only academically and in work. My earlier example of a lady barging her way into the MRT is perhaps quite an extreme case.

When I say Singaporeans are kiasu, I mean they want the best for themselves, especially in society. Being kiasu, wanting to buy cheap clothes, wanting to be number one, doesn’t mean on does not have the basic courtesy of saying “thank you” , “welcome” or even rendering assistance when needed.

“Snatching” seats in a public transport, that’s kiasuism, giving up the seat to someone who needs it more than you after “snatching” it, that, my friends, is basic courtesy.

So I say again, I do not totally agree with what comment this person has made and I feel that maybe he’s too exaggerated. Singaporeans are just a bunch of people who wants the best for themselves but at the same time can be nice people. Although at times we do show our nasty sides and can go over the top in certain issues. I mean who doesn’t.

But, hey.. that’s all part and parcel of life in Singapore. Isn’t it ?

E-learning week has just started less than 12 hours ago and alread I'm not enjoying it.
The blackboard is super irritating la.
I'm supposed to get my quiz and what not from there but it keeps hanging and says can;t display page. Zzz.

Damn is SP really filled with so many hardworking people that the system keeps jamming up or does the whole blackboard just suck? Grrr.

Tho it is amusing to see how those "computer idiots" fare at the end of this week ?
Will they complete any quiz ? Will they even know what to read and do ? Will teachers give them a second chance if they haven't complete ?

I went out with Hanson, Joseph, Amanda and Andrea on saturday.
Before that I had youth meeting tho. Sook Har treated us Jack's Place and that totally spoilt the appetite for fried Mars Bars. Not that I'm complaining. I mean c'mon its not everyday someone treats you to seafood in a basket is it ? HAHA.

Then we walked around in Marina Square. I figured either I'm getting too picky or the deisigns on shirts, T-shirts whatever these days suck. I couldn't even find a proper belt that I like la. Anyway. While walking, we had this urge to go take neoprints. Its the first neoprint that Hanson ever took. Not that he paid for it anyway.LOL. xD

Quite fun la. Then had Aijisen Ramen with Hanson for dinner while the rest left.
We felt sinful after eating so much hence we went for a run at night. Not very far just 3.4km. I should be running today as well, but I'm sick. x(

Yes, today I'm sick. Haix. But I still ate thai express oops.

I've not been able to blog for the past week.
It feels very.. I dunno what's that feeling. I mean I had so much shit crap about la.

I mean c'mon, yes we were very close in sec1 and 2, but ever since then, we hardly talked. Yep. The fact that she gave me alot of sound advice and shared her own experience was really encouraging.

I am thankful that we are like talking again. I remember during that SARS period, we were like talkin ever so often on the phone abt that toe finger toe and alot of other stuffs la. Shh. LOL. But thats all in the past. Sec 1 to be exact.

I do hope we continue to keep in contact and everything.

When a more fitting day to write my number 100th post other then today ?
The most impt day of the year xD In fact the most important day in history. The day I was born ! YAY ! *claps*

okay. I sense an awkwards silence filling the place.
Well, First and foremost, I wanna thank those who like purposely woke up super early to msg mr as well as those who stayed till twelve just to msg me. Not forgetting those who have smth on the hext day and wished me earlier. They all count and they all made me felt loved by my frens *claps again* no awkward silence.

Well, to start off today, I thought I forgot to bring something. BUT couldn't rmb what. Only when I reached school, I realised nvr bring lab coat. Had to borrow from some girl in DCP. I got mistaken for her ex la when i returned it. GOSH ! I don even know her name ?! My fren help me borrow de lo.

Then due to communication break down, we did not print out our prac report and had to rush to library to do it. But teacher look impressed. OH anad we got 39/40 for pract. YAY !

Then my class suddenly sang Happy Birthday to me in the lab. Super paiseh la. Then later I returned to lab coat the that person alr, went to find Sam, Denise and Chen Shyan play badminton. Sam and I seriously have communication prob. We were like your yours and so none of us hit the shuttlecock (if thats how you spelt it) then next time we were like mine mine and we both crashed. :S

Okays. then we were all sweating and dripping and everything. Sam left first. We met Jen Kaen and Kang Li on the way, so we went MRT. I took train back with Denise. I like taking train with her la. Cos she'll always fight for seats. Which means that I can sit during my journey xD
So we tried to study on the train. Ended up takin nonsense for most part.

So I'm home now. Gotta pia microbiology for tmr. stupid way to celebrate a birthday.

Oh and I can't wait for friday ! So long never see Atikah le la !

Sometimes I wonder if the world would be a better place without relationships.
I mean if everyone were friends and we can like stay together for life wouldn't that be better ? BUT that also means we'll have to find new way of producing babies la. So until then.. LOL.
Seriously tho, this whole relationship thing is really weighing down on me. Without my crazy poly frens to distract me and supportive church and MF frens, I really dunno what mental state would I be in now.
Its like sometime after realising some things, I feel like I should let go.
But I can't bring myself too. I believe that if you love someone, you want them to be happy la.

I believe in your whole life you'll like alot of people(infatuation), but those that you love, there are probably less than 5.
For the first time in my life (bar my parents) I really love someone. Even her flaws. I never knew it so, until the day I tried to let go. Sounds kinda corny but true. I'm sure those in my predicament will understand.
You may say I'm kinda bad but I used to like get over my infatuation for someone by simply focusing on the person's faults. Trust me, it works. LOL. And its effective. =X oops.
Anyway like my fren said, Your heart tells you one thing, your mind another. You never know who to listen too.

QUICK monday can't come fast enough. Gosh, they bring so much craziness into my life! HAHA. loves them xD
Of course I still need ALL my church and MF frens. xD

Let me reflect on today's events. The CS was fun, Basketball was certainly not far behind. Sad thing is that some like Jen Kaen, Kang Li and WeiMing couldn't play CS cos com got prob and yes that pervert Peggy never bring laptop. LOL.

But we all had fun playing basketball. Kang Li and Shyan pro-ed nehs. Wee Siong also not bad. All bluff me say noob. Sia la I this kinda pattern only play soccer de lo. Playin basketball I feel like a FISH outta the water. yes yes ! I know I'm fishy ! but I didn't mean that sentence literally. LOL. Point is THEY BLUFF ME. hahaha.

Anyway, we were like feeling 'guilty' about totally neglecting Z Brush (not that anyone cared) and RWP. So we had to justify our three hours of gaming and basketball. And hence we termed that three hours of madness "Class Bonding" xD

During Math, it was super boring. Differentiation of exponantial and log :S
the guys were like so bored all chiong-ing tutorial before teacher even finish teachin la. HAHA.

After school went to another room go play CS one hour while we waited for some other frens. Then we went our separate ways. Sharad went to find Aaron at moberly, Sam went to find his fren, Shyan was alr with hers. The rest left earlier. SO that left cookiemonster and me going back. HAHA.

Imagine back view a cookiemonster trodding along with a fish flopping beside it. okay okay. LAME. =.=

Anyway on the train with Denise, we were like talking about stupid stuff we did in secondary school. Reminiscing about the past etc.. Really missed the bully of Mrs Chia and Mrs Doong. LOL. Who can forget the soccer incident in class..? x)) mass cheating. blah blah. Well the trip seems pretty fast, we like crapped non-stop from dover to sembawang where I alighted. We covered alot of things la. From controversial things like relationships to the most queer horror film and frogs. LOL.

That just about sums up my day.

Well, I said I wanted to reflect on my day.
So I shall end on a happy note. xD It must be the 'class-bonding' LOL. I'm really starting to get used to my poly class. THO I still wanna have a proper CCA that I attend regularly so that I can make more friends ^^ Hope to have a happy three years there with them.

MF people tho. Still hold a very special place in my heart. One word : Irreplaceable.

At the moment I just love being in 1B21 x)))

I'm also glad my mei like sorted out her thoughts la. Okay I realised I got quite alot of mei. But you know who you are ^^ YAY !

Hmmm. Nothing much happened today.
Mass CS super funny. Sharad kept using knife and dunno how to change to guns. The rest kept killing their teammates by accident. LOL. Then later Sam, Denise and I took on the rest la. WE like owned ? LOL.

Played baskeball during break. xD

We called this class bonding. It really helped to to like loosen up alil x)

Okays. anyway went to school today. Was late cos watch the match till like 5.30 then i overslep till 6.45am. Paiseh let Samuel and Wee Siong wait :X
Went for Mr Mok lesson, he seems to be obssessed with drwing things today la. He drew an oval shape thing with a cirle as a head and said it was a tiger ?!

Okay then had practical. Recrystalize Benzonic Acid. Quite fun actually the heating filtering and measuring the meltin point all that. xD
Then Slacked around in library for awhile and did a draft of my CPP prac report with my group. I ended up using Denise com for awhile to play around.

After that, we went to some meet the seniors session. Sian la. I thought go there meet new fren. In the end nothing much de. Listen teacher talk crap. Sit around blow blow air-con eat one two curry puff then go home. LOL.

Hopes Manu beat AC Milan tonight. Also so that MF ppl can have a good week ahead. LOL. :X

Anyway the good thing was that suring this time with them, I was like rather focues on studying. Minus the part we were asked to leave coffee bean cos too many people la. Then we went void deck study. LOL. Ma cham some illegal gathering la. HAHAHA.

Then Yongwen went crazy about Patrick(Starfish). Took quite a number of stupid photos.

Then I met my fren on the way home. We were like talking on the way back. THen a familiar face boarded the train. Daniel frm SLC. We were rather close back then and even after the convention. But today we just gave each other the "stare" and continue talkin to our frens.

It was den that it dawned on me that one day (God Forbid) the same thing may happen to me and my secondary school friends ! x(( I dunno.
I mean I cant imagine 10,20years down the road, seeing Sophie,Gin, Manda, Min, LiNing, CF, Laopa, XM, YongWen, Winnie, Atikah, Pris... etc On the train and we just give each other a stare and continue with our lives. Just thinking about it gives me shudders.

I sincerely hope that you know, We'll (sec sch frens) remain close and meet up regularly !! Hopefully the only diff is that we are frm different schools now. I don only mean now, but when we're 20,30,40,50,60.... HAHA.

Weird, Sad, Confusing and like darren says, heart wrenching things keep happening these few weeks la. DiE. maybe thats why I'm having this barrier? I dunno. haix.

I'll take things as they come.
But, to all my frens.. thanks for like being there for me xD
